To the Top 作者:Wincentia Wu 时间:2009-8-03 周一, 下午12:48 To the Top I groaned as I hauled myself up the horse and tried to find a place on the saddle where my bottom didn’t hurt. The mare snorted and clattered up the hill. As we walked, pearly white snow was beginning to be more noticeable. It seemed like the snow was just growing and growing. We were going for, what seemed like forever and I had just gotten used to the saddle until our riding instructor, Kate, told us to dismount. My bottom was sore but I still patted Trinket, my mare and soothed her. We set up tents reluctantly and crawled in for a rest. Soon, Kate called us out for supper. Finally, I thought, food! For supper, we each had a steaming bowl of mountain stew which filled us up quickly. We dragged ourselves into our tents and finally fell into a dreamless sleep. “Rise and Shine People!” called a familiar voice. I moaned as I crawled out of my tent and had some leftover stew. As I gathered my tent up, I fed Trinket some oats to give her energy for the day. Seeing her just reminded me of how sore my backside still was and I groaned inwardly as I brushed her. Slowly, Kate led us further up the mountain and gradually, we were trotting. “You’re getting better!” I looked up and saw Kate smiling at me. I blushed deeply and looked at Trinket’s mane. I loved it when Kate told me things like that because it meant that she was proud! The day went by quickly and I was loving horse riding more and more. After supper, Kate told us that it was only one more day until we reach the top and we cheered, taking our good thoughts with us to sleep. To my surprise, as well as Kate’s, I actually rose from bed early. Kate had found me feeding Trinket and held in a shout of surprise. I could tell she was pleased. To take my happiness further, I was finally getting over the soreness of my bottom. I finally found the saddle comfortable as I mounted my mare. We were surprised when we actually got to the top because it was faster than we would have thought. Kate and I found the sunset magnificent because we were above the clouds. The clouds turned golden as we watched the sun sink down the horizon. As we went to bed, I thought, these had been the happiest moments of my life because I had managed to get to the top of a mountain and most importantly, I had grown to love horse riding!
