Dreams

A willow tree graces my back lawn,

O'er turf soft enough to dream upon.

I lay beneath it's dancing fronds,

And the boundaries of awake are gone.

The winsome waving willow wands

Paint purple ponds and pixie dust farms

Slumbering there beneath my dreaming tree

I never know what wonders I may see.

A vision of flying a-dragon-back

To a cave atop a rocky crag

There alighting from my telepathic steed

Sighing at the vista, what a lovely scene

An adventurous quest, seeking magical gem

In conical hat and floor length hem

Affixed to the hilt of a mighty sword

Guarded by a goblin wizard's ward

Be-winged I find myself with jeweled dress

Diamond buttons marching down my chest

A graceful wand with glittering star at crest

Vanquishing Wicked Witch of the West

Speeding through a meadow filled with flowers

Gifted by a Unicorn with nature's power

Running side by side with that silver horned wonder

For the joy of running and the sound of hoof-beat thunder

Happening upon a mischievous leprechaun

While holding a four leafed shamrock to wish upon

Wishing he'd gift me with his pot of gold

And an enchantment so that I will ne'er grow old

Rumpelstiltskin, spinning straw to gold

A prince and castle as has been foretold

I wonder if my sleep is spell cast compelled

If I am needle-pricked enchantment-held

To dance upon a petal of rose

A tiny pixie in repose

Using powdered pollen to polish my nose

Be-winged and mirthful if one of those

Perched inside a faerie ring

Of magical mushrooms in Wonderland seen

Unwisely chosen to sup upon

Glimpsing mad hatter here than gone

When e'er I doze 'neath my dreaming tree

I know that wondrous visions in dreams I'll see.

So very pleased to dream of all that

Invoking a grin to rival the Cheshire Cat's!
