My life is like the summer rose 我的生命像夏天的玫瑰

That opens to the morning sky, 它对着清晨的天空开放，

But ere the shades of evening close, 但在亲近的傍晚荫凉交汇，

Is scattered on the ground--to die! 散落在大地上死得难看！

Yet on the rose's humble bed 然而在玫瑰那谦逊的苗床处

The sweetest dews of night are shed, 流出了最甜蜜的夜色甘露，

As if she wept the waste to see,-- 仿佛她看到这废料而哭泣，

But none shall weep a tear for me! 但是没有人会为我把泪挤！

My life is like the autumn leaf 我的生命像秋叶茫然

That trembles in the moon's pale ray; 在苍白的月光下颤抖示意；

Its hold is frail,--its date is brief, 生命之舱这般脆弱，----生命的约会简短，

Restless,--and soon to pass away! 不安宁，---- 很快就得辞世！

Yet ere that leaf shall fall and fade, 然而在叶落凋谢之前，

The parent tree will mourn its shade, 母树会为它的色度悲鸣，

The winds bewail the leafless tree,-- 狂风为无叶的秃树哀悼几几，----

But none shall breathe a sigh for me! 但是没有人会为我叹息！

My life is like the prints which feet 我的生命在打印那脚印之地

Have left on Tampa's desert strand; 那遗留在塔姆巴沙漠上的困境；

Soon as the rising tide shall beat, 不久，当高涨的惊涛拍岸之际，

All trace will vanish from the sand; 所有的痕迹将从沙滩上消失殆尽；

Yet, as if grieving to efface 然而，宛如抹去了无足轻重的悲伤

All vestige of the human race, 人类种族那所有退化的器官，

On that lone shore loud moans the sea,-- 海水在孤立的的海岸上大声地呻吟，-----

But none, alas! shall mourn for me! 但是，唉！没有人会为我忧郁行吟！
