[Cultural] Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi AssociationAuthor: JEFFI CHAO HUI WU Time: July 16, 2025, Wednesday, 7:06 AM ········································ [Cultural] Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association Thirty Years of Fate My connection with the "Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association" began over twenty years ago. In 2001, I was appointed as the honorary advisor of the association, and this relationship evolved from a formal appointment letter into decades of deep cooperation with genuine on-site participation. The Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association is not only an important partner in my Tai Chi promotion career but also a witness and promoter of the continuous development of my Tai Chi thoughts and practices. The former president and current chairman of the Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association is my long-respected senior brother—Master Lin Wenhui. He comes from a prestigious family and is a disciple of the renowned Tai Chi master Wang Xian. He is the twelfth generation authentic inheritor of Chen-style Tai Chi and holds a very high position in the Tai Chi community. Not only is Master Lin highly skilled in martial arts, but he also possesses strong organizational abilities and vision. Master Lin has been dedicated to promoting the "popularization, systematization, and internationalization of Tai Chi." He not only founded the Qigong Tai Chi Association in Hong Kong but also led the entire organization in its transformation from a traditional martial arts group to a modern educational institution. It can be said that the development of the Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association is closely linked to the vision of Master Lin Wenhui, as it is inextricably connected to the "International Tai Chi Academy." As early as 2001, I collaborated with Master Lin multiple times. At that time, he served as the president of the Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Society. In various large-scale events, I acted both as an honorary advisor and often attended in person to teach, demonstrate, and serve as a judge, interacting with Tai Chi practitioners from different regions and schools. The event "Top Ten Masters Gather in Hong Kong" in 2008 left the deepest impression on me. It was an exchange conference that created a huge resonance in the Hong Kong Tai Chi community, gathering masters from various schools, featuring both martial arts demonstrations and in-depth discussions. I was invited to attend several events alongside Master Lin. This grand event not only enhanced Hong Kong's influence on the international Tai Chi stage but also witnessed the comprehensive advancement of Tai Chi culture from "personal martial skills" to "social education." What truly moved me was not just these large stages, but the moments when I walked into schools, communities, and the lives of ordinary people with the Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association. I have traveled to Hong Kong multiple times to teach students and adults. The most memorable experience was when dozens of middle school students practiced standing meditation and Tai Chi for the first time. They mimicked cautiously and listened attentively, and when they completed a full set of movements for the first time, the joy and surprise in their eyes was a reward that no certificate could replace. I deeply understand that the roots of culture are not in temples or on stages, but in the breaths and movements at the grassroots level of life. By 2022, under the leadership of Master Lin Wenhui, the Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association officially transformed into the "Tai Chi International Academy," fully launching a globalization development strategy. This transformation represents a historic leap, symbolizing not only the upgrade of a local grassroots organization but also reflecting a new path for Tai Chi culture towards structured education, standardized promotion, and an international system. The Tai Chi International Academy has established a clear ranking system and grading structure, eliminated sect barriers, grouped participants based on age, weight, and skill level, and created a complete teaching and competition system, allowing young people to practice Tai Chi with goals, processes, and results. I was deeply involved in this transformation process, representing the "Australian International Qigong Tai Chi Academy" multiple times at public competitions, lectures, coaching meetings, and Tai Chi Day performances organized by the academy. The most representative event was the International Tai Chi Day on October 12, 2024. I was invited to perform the National Standard 24-Form Tai Chi as the Australian representative, sharing the stage with Tai Chi representatives from countries such as the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. On that day, the atmosphere was lively, and media coverage was extensive, truly reflecting the significance of the identity of the "International Academy." I personally felt that Tai Chi is no longer just a symbol of local culture, but rather a health wisdom system contributed by Chinese civilization to all humanity. More importantly, this path has always been walked by me alone. I have no capital, no official background, and no marketing team. I founded the Australian International Qigong Tai Chi Academy, promoting teaching, organizing courses, writing textbooks, and facilitating international exchanges, all relying on decades of consistent effort. Master Lin Wenhui and I have established a profound cooperative relationship through practical experience and promotion. He is not only a fellow practitioner but also a brother whom I deeply respect. Many people do not know that I still keep the official document from when I served as the honorary advisor of the Hong Kong Qigong Tai Chi Association, as one of the important symbols of my Tai Chi journey. Today, as I witness the growing global presence of the Tai Chi International Academy and the increasing number of young people engaging in practice, I often reflect on the starting point of this journey—the small association office in Hong Kong and Master Lin's hopeful gaze back then. Thirty years have passed, the world has changed, the times have changed, but the spirit of Tai Chi remains unchanged, and we, the ones who are truly on the path, have never stopped moving forward.
